DCBD #111

I can't believe how fast a week goes by. It is time to do Heidi's challenge again. If you think about it pray for Heidi. She has to keep her cast on longer and may even be looking at surgery. She isn't happy about it. I wouldn't be either. Because of this it has made it so she can't work on her cards like she wants to. Thanks for praying for her.

Well I am trying to decide if I like the card sketches or the colors scheme challenges better. You guys have no idea how long it takes me to choose a color. FOREVER!! It is ridiculous how long it takes. Right now I am leaning towards the color scheme challenges as for liking them better.

As you can see above you have the card sketch and what I came up with for this one. I ended up using splitcoast stampers website to find the colors I used for this card.

Recipe
Stamp sets: Fresh Cuts and Sincere Salutations
Cardstock: old olive, chocolate chip, ruby red, and cameo coral
Stamp pads: chocolate chip, cameo coral, ruby red, and versamark
Tools: large oval punch, 1/16" circle punch, 5-petal flower punch, boho blossoms punch, designer label punch, and coluzzle circle cutter
Accessories: 1/4" old olive and chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, dazzling diamonds, stamping sponge, and circle ice green rhinestone brads

Sympathy Card Class

I had a customer ask me if I could have classes that were only one theme at a time. This is the first class I came up with for it. They will be making 8 cards altogether. When done they will have 2 each of 4 different designs. Something else I tried to do to make it easier on me was to use the same colors of cardstock in each card. Sometimes I have found what really slows me down in designing the cards is the color choice. I got these colors from the 2008 Fall/Winter Stampin' Up! catalog. I really like these colors used together.
I am planning on having these classes once a month. They will be the last Tuesday of every month. As for how many months, I am not sure about that yet. It all depends on how many different occasions we can come up with.
If interested in this class you can go to my Stampin' Up! website to view all of the details or click hear and it will take you there.

DCBD #110

I was so happy to finally get my Love You Much bundle package this week. I also got the crafter's tool kit, which now I can do the paper piercing. I just love what it adds to a card.
This week we were given a color sketch. Thanks, Heidi! I thought the colors were great together. My challenge was not having the Riding Hood Red ink pad. Next time since I know the In Colors last for a year I am going to purchase all of them. Anyhow, despite not having the ink, I knew that I could make it work with the Close to Cocoa ink. I guess when you think of a Valentine's card you automatically think it has to be red or pink!
Tell me what you think of my card. I always love the comments. Don't be afraid to even suggest something. Make sure you check out all of the other Diva Coffee Break Design team member's blogs to see what they came up with for this challenge. Take it upon yourself to try it also. Just let me know you did it. I would love to see it if you do. Also if you don't have Stampin' Up! paper use the colors that you do have that would best mimic SU!'s.
Recipe
Stamp set: Love You Much
Cardstock: riding hood red, close to cocoa, very vanilla, kraft, and DSP candy lane
Ink: close to cocoa
Tools: paper piercing tool, 1/8" anywhere hole punch, word window punch, heart to heart punch, photo corners punch, scallop circle punch, tab punch, and sponge dauber
Accessories: 1/4" very vanilla grosgrain ribbon

DCBD #109

Hello everyone!!
Just so you know that I didn't make a mistake and name this card sketch challenge incorrectly, I skipped last weeks challenge. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Above and to the left is the card challenge we were given this week by Heidi, our head Diva. I really thought this one was pretty fun and challenging. It had quite a few different color choices in it.
To be honest with you. I can't say I am completely satisfied with how my card turned out this time. I love how the top note die cut turned out, but when I added the other things it just didn't satisfy me like I thought it would.
Well with that in mind above and to the right is what I came up with for this weeks challenge. Once again take this challenge upon yourself and try it. Let me know by email or on my comments that you did it. If you have a blog and post it let me know so I can check it out.
Here is the recipe for this card.
Stamp set: True Friend
Cardstock: chocolate chip, close to cocoa, kiwi kiss, pink pirouette, regal rose, and very vanilla
Ink pads: pink pirouette
Markers: regal rose, old olive, and chocolate chip
Tools: big shot, top not die cut, corner rounder punch, curly label punch, boho blossom punch, and 1/16th hole punch
Accessories: 1/4" grosgrain ribbon chocolate chip and pretty in pink, and earth elements brad old olive
