I want to be honest. I get tired of always starting each new post with the same thing. I really want to try and be a little different each time in what I say.

As most of you know July has a saying. If you haven't figured it out by looking at my creation, I guess I will have to just tell you. Well, it is, "Christmas in July!" I thought it would be fun to try out the new SU! fancy favor bag #115965 that I purchased to one day make favors for my younger daughter's wedding day. Since this weeks challenge was to use any SU! die with the Big Shot I thought this was a great time to try it.
After I made the fancy favor bag, I decided to make a 3 x 3 card to go along with it. I was going to attach a tag to the handle of the bag, but it would have covered up the front too much.

Some of you may think the price of this die is way too much to buy. Here are some uses that I know it could be used for: baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties, gift cards, teacher gifts, and for someone in the hospital. I am sure there are more, but these are ones that I could think of fairly quickly. Because of all of the uses, I believe it is worth the investment.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Diva Coffee Break Designs sketch challenge time, once again. In case you are wondering, a new challenge comes out every Wednesday. We need new people to join in with us. I know it is summer, but I am sure you are still creating cards anyhow.

This sketch is a simple one. You can make it like it is or think outside of the box a little bit. I decided to make a manly card again. My husband every once in a while will tell me I should make another manly card. It is too easy to overlook the men and make feminine cards all of the time. Well, the men in our lives need to know they are appreciated by us too. They like getting cards just like we do. Right men?
I am curious to see if any men respond to this. I have never had a comment from a man on my blog yet. Have any of you other women out there had any?

I just got this stamp set. I don't know what it is, but I just think he is the cutest stamp. I may even keep this one when it retires. It can be used for lots of things. As for this card, I have to say I love it! I love how it turned out when totally finished. I would like to know what you think though. Please comment, if you don't mind.

I hope you all had a very nice 4th of July. We had a cookout with my daughter and her fiance' (she hates that word). Later in the afternoon we went to my niece's 16th birthday party.

Hello everyone! It is time to break out your die cutting machines. Stampin' Up! has the Big Shot. I love it! It takes all kinds of dies. Of course, there are exclusive dies made for Stampin' Up! only. You are going to get to see some of these in my card today. If you are interested in a Big Shot just let me know or any of the dies too.
As you can see below this is the Diva Coffee Break Designs challenge for the week. I used quite a few different ones for my card. We always try to encourage you to do this challenge with us. Here is what I came up with for this challenge. I kept debating on putting a sentiment on it. I decided not to. I still may when I go to give it to someone. I hope you will take the time to tell me what you think of it. Yes, there is a lot of detail, but remember the Big Shot cut everything out. I just had to arrange and layer it however I wanted to.

Hello, everyone! I hope your week has been going well. It is time again for this week's DCBD challenge. It is a fun one and pretty simple too. You can keep it very basic or really step it up a lot. It probably depends on how much time you want to spend on it.

I really love how this card turned out. I wasn't so sure I was going to like it when I first started working on it. I just never know what it is going to look like until I am all done. I may have somewhat of an idea, but not the whole. Please comment and tell me what you think.

Another week has went by and it is Diva Coffee Break Designs sketch challenge time again. I love the colors in this sketch. I would love to have made a card using flowers, but there is a special holiday this Sunday. I decided I wanted to make the card for my husband. You know when your business is making cards and such you better make a card. It doesn't look good for your business if you don't. At least I don't think so.
This is what I came up with for the card. You will have to tell me what you think. Some of you may be saying it looks childish. I have to agree with you, if you are thinking that. My husband, you see, loves airplanes. I wanted to make an airplane for him. I decided to use my punches to come up with it. I think it turned out really cute. When it was finished I thought the bear from the Cute and Cuddly set would be so cute to use as the pilot. Even though it looks childish, I know that my husband will love it. That is all that matters. I will have to remember and sometime make one similar for a baby card though.

This weeks card sketch was lots of fun. I am going to be helping a friend/customer make wedding invitations for her daughter's wedding. Also my daughter has been talking about colors she is kind of interested in for her wedding. Because of this, I thought this sketch was a great choice for a test wedding invitation. You can tell me what you think by clicking on the comments button at the bottom of this post. My biggest disappointment on this card is how the writing came out. The ink got a little bit too blotchy on the word "place". I didn't want to start over and decided to go ahead and keep it like it is. I thought about re stamping it on mellow moss card stock and covering it up, but I didn't want more of that color. I love the card except for that little mistake.

Here we go once again, everyone. Are you all ready to go get out your stamps, ink, and most importantly your Big Shot? We really want to see more people join us in doing these challenges. Lately it doesn't seem like very many of you have been participating. The main reason for this design team is to inspire you to do this with us, not to look at what we have done. Yes, I realize your seeing what we have done gives you ideas, but if you don't play along what good are our ideas. By the way, if for some reason you don't have a Big Shot, but you do have a cuttlebug or other sizzix machine it counts too. I was showing my husband my blog the other day. I told him I had the most comments on my manly card. His suggestion was for me to make them more often. Well, I did try to do that this week, but I think this is more for the young men in our lives. I had fun using watercolor crayons and blender pens. My sky, well, let's just say I need to work on that more. It is ok, but it could be better. Since this was the Big Shot challenge, I used the top note die and the swirls scribbles sizzlet. Other tools I used were the scallop oval punch, the large oval punch, a stamping sponge, and the paper piercer. I used the stamp sets Boatloads of Love and Oval All. The card stock is real red, so saffron, brocade blue, bashful blue, DSP brocade blue and basic gray (hostess pack), and watercolor paper. The ink pads were real red and StazOn black. I also used the 5/8" grosgrain real red ribbon. For the life preservers I used the white gel pen.

Below is the sketch we were given this week to work with. It looks very simple, but you can really do a lot with this sketch.

This is what I came up with for this challenge. I like it, but have wondered if I almost did too much to it. You will have to leave me a comment to tell me what you think. I have to say it is a different style for me. I do like it though. I even have a gift basket I have been making up to go along with this card. The paper all matches. I am going to give it to our children's ministry director at my church. Tonight is the last night for our kid's programs. We will start back up in the fall. When I get the basket and things going into it finished I will post it on here. It will probably be sometime tomorrow.

It is Diva Coffee Break Designs color challenge time. I knew when I seen this one it should be fairly easy. Some colors are easier to work with than others. I took quite a bit of time making this card. I told my daughter she could have this card when I was finished. A co-worker of hers got a different job and is quitting on Friday. She wants to give this card to her.

I ended up doing a lot of cutting on this card. I tried to make the balloons fit in with the flowers. Overall I am happy with how it turned out. I hope it makes you want to try and create too.

Ink: always artichoke classic pad, versamark pad, regal rose marker, always artichoke marker, and certainly celery marker

Tools: embossing gun, 1/8" hole punch (crafter's tool kit), large oval punch, scallop oval punch, scallop circle #2 die (big shot), and eyelet border punch
Accessories: whisper white taffeta ribbon, white embossing powder, crystal effects, and dazzling diamonds glitter

Hint: When I put the crystal effects on the balloons, I added dazzling diamonds by pinching it with 2 fingers and sprinkling it on while it was wet. Once dry it is stuck to it. Very easy to do. You don't need to heat set it.

Hello everyone. I hope this has been a very pleasant and uplifting week for all of you. I am sure some of you have had some craziness. That is life though, isn't it? Even in all of this God is good.

This weeks card sketch was fun for me. I decided to make this a double challenge though. I missed color sketch 124. I really wanted to do that sketch, but my kids were here and I felt spending as much time with them was more important than trying to get the sketch done. I also decided that this card was going to be made for my younger daughter. She and her boyfriend got engaged this past week. Yeah! I want to send them this card to congratulate them. I don't think people send very many cards for this occasion and decided I wanted to. Tell me what you think of the finished results.

Hello to all! Can you believe another week has went by. I wanted to try and kill 2 birds with 1 stone this time around. So this is going to be my mom's mother's day card, as well as, this week's challenge card.

Our challenge was to use anything that went with the Big Shot. I have used these items before for this challenge (top note die and manhattan flower embossing folder), but I haven't used the vellum. My mom loves flowers so I knew I wanted to use flowers for her card.

I ended up using a stamping sponge on the vellum with almost amethyst and rose red ink. I do like how it turned out. The color of card stock you use behind it could totally change the look though. I ended up using pink pirouette behind mine cut with the top note die cut (love this die cut). The other card stock is almost amethyst and DSP regal rose from the hostess pack.

I wanted to apologize for not doing last week's challenge. My daughter and son-in-law are here right now and we have been really busy. The good thing is I did get this week's challenge done. I knew that I needed to do a simple and fast card. The great thing is this challenge was a very easy one to do. You should try it too.

Wow, check out this weeks card sketch! I loved this one. I looked at all of my stamp sets (I don't have that many) until I figured out which one would work the best. I ended up choosing Nature Silhouettes. I thought it would be nice to make a manly card for a change. So many are feminine and flowers. I also decided that I wanted it to have a rustic look to it. I do have to say that I am quite pleased with this one.


To give this card a rustic look I tore the card stock and roughened it up a bit. I also took my stamping sponge and added chocolate chip classic ink around the edges of all of the paper. For the stamped images I sponged the entire face with chocolate chip classic ink. I even thought that the bravo burgundy needed a richness added to it too. It just wasn't dark enough, so I added chocolate chip ink with a sponge right on it as well. Tell me what you think. The comment button is under this post. Thanks to everyone that does take the time to leave comments. It is nice knowing what others think of my work. I bet everyone else, like myself, eats it up.

Above is this weeks Diva Challenge. I hope that a lot of you will play along with us this week. I really love my Big Shot. Making die cuts for our cards is so easy with this machine. I have mine sitting out where I can get to it very easily. For me that is very important. I don't mind using things if it is easily accessible. If I have to get up and search for something, a lot of times I really would rather not bother with it. Sounds lazy huh? I don't consider myself lazy, hhhmmmmm maybe convenient.

I liked this challenge. My thing is I am not real pleased with my finished creation. I am my own worst critic, so if you don't like this one either, well let's just say we are in agreement on this one. I guess I feel that I should have done something more to the flowers. They are missing something that could make them "pop". What do you think they needed? You will have to tell me what you think.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how I wanted the flowers layered and finally decided this way. Well enough about how I feel about my card. I really love the card sketch we were given this week. It was a very fun one to do. Yes, there was lots of detail to this one, but it is well worth it. I hope a lot of you will try this one out also. I do not have any Easter stamp sets. I really wanted to make an Easter card for this challenge though. Below is what I came up with. There is not a whole lot of rubber stamping in this. There is more cutting and die cuts in this instead. I really wanted a saying and knew that I didn't have any stamps that said anything about Easter. I remembered last evening that I had rub-ons and thought maybe it had an Easter saying in it. Yes, it did! I used it to finish up this card. I hope you like it.

It is color challenge time again. Another week that has flown by again.

Above is the colors we were given to work with. To be quite honest I didn't like them, once again. I got my inspiration from Stampin' Ups! urban oasis designer series paper. I thought that if I used the stamp set Fifth Avenue Floral, I could make this work. Below is what I came up with. I do like the finished look.

I had fun with this sketch. I think some are just easier to really be creative with and think out of the box. It should be very exciting to look at all of the other Diva's cards. I know I have said before, but it is so cool just to see how everyone else creates their projects. God made us so differently in our ideas. I used to think someone else would do the same thing I did, but it has never happened yet, nor do I think it ever will. I know, dumb idea huh?

Along with this sketch challenge this week we were asked to use stamps and supplies out of the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog. I did end up using a saying from the regular catalog. I didn't buy or earn any of the sets that had the sayings that would have been appropriate. I hope it doesn't matter.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous! Another week has went by and the only thing I have been posting once again is Diva Design Challenges. I am really going to try and work on this problem of mine. I would like to post a couple of times a week. I think I need to make that a challenge too besides the Diva Design Challenges.

This weeks challenge was easy as long as you have a Big Shot and a die cut of some kind. I have a few, but not very many so far. I am working on getting more a little at a time. I just got the Scallop Bag Die. I am going to use that to make baby shower favors. Hopefully they will be fairly easy to make. If not, I have another die coming soon and it could be used instead, if necessary.

Anyway enough rambling on for now. I was actually making this card a horizontal card all along. At the last minute I turned the card the other way (vertical) and decided I liked it better that way instead. Tell me what you think of it. Recipe for my card. Stampin' Up materials only.

Stamp Set: Priceless

Cardstock: pretty in pink, certainly celery, almost amethyst, so saffron, shimmery white, and DSP tea party

Ink Pads: certainly celery, pretty in pink, and lavender lace

Tools: eyelet border punch (I love it!), top note die cut (Big Shot), boho blossom punch, on board batch of blooms (chip board), and the paper piercing tool

Accessories: 1/4" grosgrain pretty in pink ribbon and soft subtle brads

I hope I didn't leave anything out. When finished, I had used a lot of different things!
